I’m finally posting a few pictures from Pitti Uomo 81, the biannual men’s clothing trade show in Florence. These are from the Fall 2012 edition, which was held, as they do in the fashion world, in January 2012.
The Pitti hosts a much smaller women’s show, the Pitti W, as part of which they produced Vestirsi da Uomo (Dress Like a Man). This second edition of the show was curated by art director Marc Ascoli. He took over the Villa Favard, a fine old villa that now houses Polimoda, the International Institute of Fashion Design & Marketing. Ascoli created a tableau vivant in each room, with a cast of musicians, fashion students, models and puppeteers.
Performers were dressed by Ascoli in clothes from Barbour, Black Fleece By Brooks Brothers, Borsalino, Cruciani, Engineered Garments, Folk, Herno, Lardini, Salvatore Piccolo, Santoni, Tonello, and Yuketen.
Here is French singer Owlle performing in the Villa Favard, 12 January 2012.
